Back Into the Swing of Things

Just wanted to send out a short update to say that we have completed this semester's first week of classes here at the Missionary Training Center! To the left is our traditional first-day-of-classes picture. You will note the heavy jackets and scarf. That was because it was three degrees and snowing our first day!

Life in the training has started right back up with the Bible studies at Taco Bell for Cameron and jail ministry for myself, work detail assignments and, of course, classes. Right out of the block our classes are Phonetics 2 and Mature Church. We took Phonetics 1 back in February of last year but this time around we are going through the "weird" and "unusual" sounds also known as the difficult sounds such as the African clicks. This is a very lighthearted class as we laugh over both our mistakes and just the hilarious faces we make in our attempts to reproduce these difficult sounds. Mature Church focuses on what to do in a tribe after you've gone through the chronological teaching and have believers. Once the church is developed, what's next to guide them to maturity in Christ where they come to depend on Him rather than looking to us? That's what this class seeks to answer. Such a great class and one that causes you to really think different issues through.

Bundled up to read the Word
Below we have listed seven prayer requests that we would like to share with you all. We greatly covet your prayers and consider ourselves blessed to know that so many care for us and bring us before our Father!
  • That our marriage would continue to grow and be centered on the Lord
  • Faithfulness to our time in the Word and prayer so that we do not neglect Him in our training to serve Him
  • That God would give us His wisdom and make His will clear to us as various decisions come up
  • To have contentment where God has us in our lives right now in this phase of life
  • Focus as this year will be one of transition and change for which we are both excited but there is the temptation to live in the future and check out in the present
  • That we would soak up all we can from classes
  • Have balance in our time management and discern how best to steward our time with so many different things on our plates
Please let us know how we can be specifically praying for you! Thank you all for your support and prayers!

United in Christ,

Caitlin and Cameron

New Semester Around the Corner!

The winter break is drawing to a close and Monday we're starting up our fourth semester here at the New Tribes Missionary Training Center! Thank you for praying for us regarding the break! It's been a good and restful break with time spent visiting Cameron's family in both Union and Springfield Missouri and also Louisiana. All those travels were jammed into twelve days altogether. The other eighteen days were spent here at home. Intermixed with working at Taco Bell we saw STAR WARS, did a lot of cleaning, reorganizing, drawing up new budget sheets for the new year, wood burning, knitting, drawing, playing games, decorating cookies, going to Branson and going through the wax museum and hall of mirrors and seeing the Dixie Stampede ,and just enjoying some quiet days together. Truly, this has been the most restful break we've ever had and we feel refreshed and ready to begin this next semester.

Want to see what our upcoming classes will be? We've listed them out below:
Phonetics 2
Mature Church
Ministry Partnership Development 2
Folk Religions [choice of Folk Catholicism, Folk Islam or Folk Buddhism]
Christian Life 2
Missionary Tech
Church Planting Wrap-Up
Practical Skills & Camping
We'll finish all these classes by April 4th and then immediately begin the Linguistics course! If you remember the post we wrote in June, we took some classes at the end of last Spring early so that we would be able to start Ling before graduation. This is why there's a gap between the last day of our fourth semester and graduation. While our graduation ceremony is April 22nd, Linguistics will continue until June 10th and then will begin again July 27th and conclude December 16th. Upon which time we will pack up and head down to Florida to begin our Partnership Development with the desire to head over to Asia Pacific in summer of 2017 but we'll see what the Lord has in store!

We're excited to begin this new year and new semester afresh! Thank you all for your support and prayers.

United in Christ,

Caitlin and Cameron
